Finnish set drama The Summer Book, based on Tove Jansson’s 1972 novel, premiered at the London Film Festival nearly a year ago. Directed by Charlie McDowell, it finally receives a limited theatrical bow this weekend. Glenn Close, Emily Matthews and Anders Danielsen Lie star.

The theatrical version is not as acclaimed as its source material with 74% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59 Metacritic. Eight-time Oscar nominee Close (who famously has yet to win) does have a shot at a ninth nod in 2025. It would be in supporting for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and not this.
